My Dearest 2E'07,

Have you ever heard of the phrase "time flies"? I am sure we probably do.

As I write on this post I realise that time indeed flew and flew and flew. It's been 3 years and some of you have graduated, some of you are studying, and we are all at different stages of our lives.

I caught some of you in the pretty graduation photos and I am happy for you. It fills me with so much joy to simply see you people in those photos - your happy faces, as well as whenever facebook shows celebrations of birthdays, fun outings, etc. I'm so glad that for many of you, you have found a good friend or two from your days in Yuying.

Keep these friendships - they will last you a lifetime. You people are really great friends' keepers :)

I know that a bunch of you are doing your exams (O levels, N levels, or your ITE, or privates). Me too actually, I've to complete 3 essays this month, 1 presentation, as well as to prepare for examinations for my course. There's a lot of homework as well.

I wonder, if, the following description applies to us sometimes?

There will be times that we'll probably wish we are smarter, better looking...we'll probably wish we'll be more disciplined, we'll probably wish that we can turn back time, or even wish that time can run forward, or we may wish for short cuts. We feel discouraged, compare ourselves to others, go into extreme stress and bash ourselves up. What more, a couple of us may even have to face some family or friendship problems along the way...

Hmmmm?

The truth is, there is no better day, no better time, and time doesn't stop for us. Let's learn to accept that we are not perfect, we do have our weaknesses, forgive ourselves for the times we have not done well (forgive yourselves, no matter how may times!), and focus on our strengths, and allow the tough times in our lives to build resilience and strength deep in us, so that we may walk on the journey of life with faith and purpose.

All of you are unique and have your own strengths and goodness within you.

You have a purpose and you are not a mistake. You are wonderfully and beautifully made.

Don't quit, and don't give up.

Good News will encourage us, and Bad News will motivate us and build our inner strength.

Or rather, there are actually no bad news, it's a matter of how we perceive and receive the news.

So there, all the best for your upcoming 3 months before the year ends.

It was Jan 2006 when I started to teach your class, May 2007 when we first started this blog...and it's already Feb 2010 today!

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!

Time really flies and we've all moved on. Some of us are no longer with yyss, most of you are doing your O level year, and we've all our own stories to tell. When I saw you people at Seoul Garden, it really dawned on me that you've all grown prettier, more handsome, OLDER...and I am well....still...young. Hahahaha

Okay everyone, I hope you're all doing well, wherever you are - the 2E's excellence spirit probably sounds so old and foreign to us...but it simply means that we try our best and don't give up, because IMPOSSIBLE is written as I M POSSIBLE!

Have a good year ahead everyone - keep in touch and do take care.

Dearest Class 2E of 2007,

Good News or Not-so-good News?

Congrats on finishing your 4th year of secondary school life - whether it is N levels, O levels, Private, Repeating, or wherever you are - you've completed 4 years!

It is at this moment that we should take time to really encourage and be moral support for each and everyone of our classmates who not going to Sec 5. As I've smsed (to those of you who are in my hp list - else pls sms me your number k!), what is really more important is that you are okay, and your future is still bright - as long as you've the right attitude! There is no difference about your self-worth and identity, don't you forget that! The reason why I started the post for this group of you is to show you how important that attitude is more important than anything else, and I want you to feel worthy and accepted too. Of cos, this attitude means, if you've worked hard already (and/or you had personal issues that you had to deal with for the year) - then know that your destiny is out there for you to fight for it. If you know deep deep down that you didn't put in enough effort, then let this be a wake up call for you to really start fighting, okay? Whatever that is, don't give up - fight!

Of cos, congrats to each and everyone of you who made it to Sec 5! I'm sure the new requirements are not easy so I'm really happy for you - yes, plus those of you whom we've not been seeing each other for such a long long time, you and you and you! Congrats to Alfred for our top scholar for N levels, and Jiahao being the next - you both really did well and we're all happy for you! This is great news for all of you who are going Sec 5 - and indeed worthy of celebration. After the celebrations, go back to school with the correct attitude and really work all you have for Sec 5 - for your dreams. O levels is a leap from N levels, so you will really need to put in all you have - don't be complacent, don't waste even the first 1-3 months playing and enjoying yourself without studying. Since you've spent so much time for 4 years, don't waste everything down the drain for your final year, okay? Don't lose yourself in pc games, lan games, bgr, blah blah, and lose focus. Whatever that is, don't give up - fight!

So while Benjamin, Dennis & Siyong are enjoying their holidays waiting for O levels, Chen Wei is doing so super well @YMCA (he topped his class!), and the rest of you are either working or resting, enjoy your december. Big Thanks to Freddy (for organising - it's his first time!), and to all of you who were there for the annual 2E gathering. I didn't know that it was a farewell for me as well, so I'm especially touched.

Your class has a special place in my memories - which I'll probably still remember and laugh at when I grow old. Who can forget 2E'07 forgetting thermometers on my birthday!!!! I still remember all the scoldings and the laughter...and the mega "drama showdown" at the courtyard. I don't think I told you all this - after I walked off so super angrily and upset from the courtyard - I sat down in the staffroom trying to cool down...and started to prepare for my next lesson...only to realise that I'm going to step into your class for CME next! (Imagine the horror and humour on my face!) Hahahaha...

While we are all moving on next year and the years to come - let's all work hard and keep in touch. We'll try to post something regularly on the blog, right? :p

Okay, let's also make a date for an annual gathering - and start seeing botaks in 3 years...start saving up for each other's weddings...having dads and moms in dunno-how-many-more-years...grin. It'll be so fun to see how everyone progresses, isn't it?

Have a blessed Christmas everyone - do consider doing some personal reflections (what were your happiest moments, your saddest moments, your times of regret, what you want to see yourself doing and feeling next year) and finish 2009 with a smile :)

Class Gathering cum Farewell Party

2e 07' CLASS GATHERING CUM FAREWELL PARTY

Hi all...Exams are over for most of us, but for some who are still taking 'O' levels, jia you and persevere all the way!!!

Anyway, instead of a chalet, we will be going to SEOUL GARDEN TAMPINES MALL for our gathering, because it is a bit too late to book a chalet as most are fully booked and also the planning will be quite hectic. So a buffet lunch session will not take up a lot of time, and also it will definitely require lesser money than a chalet. Thus, we will be doing a buffet gathering.

This Buffet lunch session will also be a farewell party for Ms Chan because she will be leaving the school soon.

Below are the details of the Buffet Gathering:

Date: 8th December 2009, Monday

Time: 12noon onwards....

Venue: Seoul Garden Tampines Mall

Cash to bring: $14 and above. $14 for the buffet and the others for entertainment, if any of you plan to do anything there

Hello, Dearest 2E-ians!

I am tired and bored so I came here to talk to you guys.

How's your studies going? Seriously, I find myself slacking and goofing off during some lessons.
(Obviously, those boring lessons :P) Prelims paper starts at 3rd of August and I was really sad when I can't get my mind to study and concentrate during lessons especially my weaker subjects. Chemistry, Physics, Combined Humanities and POA. All these are my weakest but sadly, all these lessons are boring ones. No joke.

I know this is bad but I just couldn't get my mind into it previously but TODAY, I have already made up my mind to really concentrate during lessons.
Because, I've got this wish and I want it to come true....... And my wish is my motivation.

SO, I am very motivated now. Get motivated! The feeling is 'WOW'.

Whatever problems you guys are having now, put it aside, concentrate on your studies first before you ever regret for not studying hard at the first place. All these people are everywhere, I guess I WAS one of them. But I'll never be one anymore, I hope!

Yet another Sec 2 Camp has come and gone.

Every year, when Sec 2 Camp starts and ends, it never fails to trigger memories of 2E'07.

It's now 2009. Time really flies, isn't it?

You know, I had a really upsetting day in school today.

Remember there was this one particular day when I was so furious with your class that I was at the top of my voice from the hall, to the parade square, before storming off?

I remember what I said, "I wish I never love you all so much, so that I won't be so upset."

I also remember telling myself that I will never be that angry any more at any class or students again. It wasn't a good feeling. I also knew that deep down, I wanted all of you to buck up and do well for your studies, for your future, for your own lives, no matter what background or problems you are facing.

Today, that all-so-familiar feeling of anger rose up in me from another class. I was so upset and so totally furious. I won't go into details - but I was equally as angry and firm in my words today. It's been many hours and I'm cooling down.

You know what, the thought just dawned on me.

I hate to admit it, but I was so angry because I care. I'm so worried that the students won't make it for their national examinations. I'm so totally upset and angry that they are not bucking up and putting in their best. I'm so furious.

Why am I telling you all these? When it's all about them and not about you?

Simply because...

The kind of anger (that I'm so worried that I end up being so angry) that I experienced 2 years ago for your class came back to me today. Made me really wonder how all of you are coping in studies. Are you studying? Are you trying your best? Are you really doing your best?

I hope you are making the best use of your holidays. You've come so far. It's already been 4 years in YYSS, and 6 years in primary. You've studied for at least 10 years!

Make the last 4 months count.

Just do it.

Nothing is impossible.

Because I am Possible.

My last post was in Feb and time flies. It's already nearing May and it's 10.54pm now.

I'm suddenly reminded of the boys in short pants and the girls in short/long skirts.

It's your EL papers tomorrow and I am wondering how everyone is doing...

Are you studying well? Are you coping well? Are you focusing well? Are you feeling well?

It's always nice seeing you around in school - but somehow I don't get to bump to most of you this new term. I think I remember seeing Samson on stage...Yo Lee eating nuggets...Timothy saying hi...and the usual bubbly girls who always say, "hi MISS CHAN!" and you brighten my day each time :)

Congrats to those of you who took part in the recent competitions. While the results do affect us positively or negatively sometimes, remember that it was the learning experience that matters too. You are all special in your own ways. Remember - our ole' 2Excellence spirit.

Don't give up on excellence - give it your best shot this year. Alright?

Now now now... 2E'07, especially to our regulars (you know who you are)

This is week 7 since we left 2007, today is 17th and this is the 74th post for our blog :)

I hope you are feeling the heat of N levels, O levels, upcoming exams of any sort. There are lots of school activities going on, CCAs, competitions, speech day, etc etc etc. I'm also breathing up to my neck but trying my best. I hope you are too.

Like I always said, it's always good to see you around in school. Nowadays we seem to bump into each other a little more. Probably the FRC routes, classroom routes or something like that. I remember seeing Samson 2 times in a row on the same day. Something quite uncommon last year. Oh and this week I saw Victoria, Xinrong, Illi, ZhaoYuan, Shafiq, regina, hannisha, alfred, si yong, Ben (but of cos I see you ben... haha), leon, farridon, sufi and Samson.

but you see...I also met Weiting and Jojo (okay me getting old...forgive me). heh heh

The rest...where are you? :)

Okay, you are still remembered. The road goes on and on and on. We still walk on but we do remember the road that brought us together, and the times we spent. Let's walk on...

I hope you're more or less settled for school this year...whether you are in 4Expres, 4NA, or doing 3NA this year...you've your own journey to walk, which you obviously have to walk yourself (with the help of teachers, etc etc of course)! :)

Just a short note to say I really enjoy seeing you around school and a simple "hi" from you does make a difference to brighten my day. I hope it does the same to you too.

These semi-detached double-storey chalets are fully furnished with a living room set with TV and games table; dining room; air-conditioned bedrooms, furnished with beds, wardrobes, dressers, bedside tables and wall fans; toilets/bathrooms with shower heater; BBQ pit and a fully equipped kitchen.

Halton Terrace (All bedrooms are on the 2nd floor) has 3 bedrooms, 1 queen bed, 4 single beds, 2 common toilets, 2 common bathrooms.

The suitable group size for day use is 25 persons only. 6 persons only for night use.

How time flies, it's already coming end October.

Tomorrow is the Promotion & Retention Meeting for teachers...and since my form class is graduating this year, I won't be as tense/anxious/excited as when I had to prepare for your class' promotion/retention last year.

I Still Remember

I still remember the anxiety of stepping into 2E.
I still remember the pretty (yet sometimes vandalised) noticeboards.
I still remember where each of you sat.
I still remember your little habits when you sat in your seats.
I still remember the "oh-2E-behave-yourselves-during-FRCs" days.

Surprised? (I am a student!) You may not be now, till I reveal who I really am. Haha. Well, Miss Chan suggested me to give a post since I will be logging in to change the blog song. Suggestion of songs, people? Tag if you want any changes. Before I forget, I am glad that Alfred is alright now. Welcome back Alfred!

Alright, exams officially starts tomorrow! So hope you guys are prepared, well prepared! :D Mug hard for this EOY exams and hope everyone of us get promoted to secondary 4 ok! Even now, teachers are using N levels to warn us and remind us to study, study and study. I mean Study Hard! It might not be the best time then we start to wake up when we are in secondary 4, preparing for our N levels. It's always the best to start early, in fact, we should be already awake now and studying for it already. My friend once told me,

Hard work always pays off.

So yes, work towards our very own goal and we will not have any regrets in future too. After Ns, it would be Os. (If we can possibly make it and I believe everyone can if we have the determination.) Get something to motivate ourselves, even me, I needs motivation too. Whatever the motivation might be, as long as it can motivates you to the goal you wanted in life, why not? Our teachers are all having some expectations of us, so lets not make them disappointed ok? :)

GET WELL SOON!It warms my heart when I saw the whole bunch of you boys being so anxious for Alfred...and spreading the news so fast.

That whenever I see one of you, you'll ask me, "Miss Chan...have you heard what happened to Alfred?"

Right, how is everyone doing? I'm going straight to the point and if you see your name somewhere along the paragraphs below, it's because we bumped into each other...or I heard of you somehow...

Jojo is taller - I think. Still bubbly as ever, doing a good job.

Joey is drummer - I'm sure. Very very nice, chatted on our bus trip home and my hands were spared from carrying a huge load - thank you Joey. Take care.

Illi is sweet-er. As always. I enjoy seeing you in school with your courtesy and zest for people around you.

Aaron's hair is straighter - that's what you all said. But I'm so proud you are not late for school, and you are studying more!

Timo is Timo-er (Okay I couldn't find a better word). I didn't get to shake you at all. No reason to. But it's just nice catching you along the corridors in school.

Eliaser is wiser. (Did I spell it correctly?) The way you talk, the way you behave. There is a different air about you :)

The other E... Hongjie (What E is yours?) Didn't get to talk to you but heard you both quitted on vulgarities - EXCELLENT!!!

Benjamin is Busier. Well well, but I see you are coping really fine. So not a cause of concern. I'm confident in you.

Zhaoyuan's EL is better. I enjoy reading your posts on Media Club. Great ones!

Daphne's & Shaoping's skirts are short-er. You know yeah? But always remember my heart goes out to the both of you. Stay close to each other, celebrate your friendships, but don't forget to encourage each other to study and do what is right!!!

Siyong is smarter (Hehe). I hope you are, and take care of yourself. Stay down-to-earth too! :)

Wei Jie is quieter. You seem more mellowed and quieter. Don't quit. Be bold to dream. You can achieve great things in life. Just believe. No matter how lousy the circumstances, you can rise up above them. Keep trying!

Laura is healthier. Am I right to say? I realise I always see you at the staircase area between 2 blocks on a particular day of the week. Nice to see you happy. Hope you are. Keep studying hard!

Alvin is happier. I sense. Still reading your Chinese novels and books? I was glad to see the bunch of you outside staff room today. Very nice feeling. Enjoy your schooling life. Yes, I still remember about how you all wanted to show me your report books. I will wait for the next round. Right? :)

Biyun & Victoria are still togeth-er. You both, still close as ever, I hope? :) Well well it is not easy to have great friends to stick out with for your Sec lives, and usually these friendships lasts for a lifetime...all the way till you work and get married and grow old... Cherish them!

Mufa, your hair is still the same. I always remember seeing you sitting at the railing every morning before Frc... must recognise me...haha. Study hard!

Chen Wei is much much much better and happier and greater. No longer with us in school, but he is doing so well in his studies and in his life. We wish him all the best, and let's all catch up soon.

Why do I have this feeling...somewhere in my heart...that some of you are not working as hard as you used to, or you should be?

Why do I have this feeling...that some of you are slacking off in your determination and resilience to work hard?

Okay, I know your reasons - family, teachers, classmates, can't concentrate, etc.
These reasons can be valid - but still, remember how you tried to focus last year, and how you tried your best?

Ask yourself, have you tried your best despite it all?
It's 1/2 year to EOY, and 1 more year to National N Levels...........................

WAKE UP IF YOU HAVEN'T!
(okay I know I sound harsh, but you should know me better).

To those who did well - I'm so proud of you and your hard work.

In light of the devastations in China and elsewhere, the cyclone and earthquakes that took away so so so many lives, it has affected me personally - and I hope it does pull a heartstring in you too.

TIME OF THE YEAR AGAIN...

Yes, it's time of the year again. How time flies, first it was Common Tests, and now it's Mid-Year.

I hope your engines are all ready and have been oiled up, gunning for the exams. Time to settle down, before the results day comes with "Good News, Bad News?"

Before I forget, some areas to congratulate - these goes out to:

(1) ALFRED - for being in the SYF band marching assessment, for the DISTINCTION. Gd job!

(2) SPEECH DAY RECIPENTS - For all the good work done, Jiahao - you got Best in LIT! & all those of you who went up the stage - I cheered and am proud of you! :)

(3) COMPETITIONS - Basketball (WeiKiaw, pls take care of your arm, again!), Wushu, Sepak Takraw, all other competitions...well done 2E!

You people, I know some of you are struggling, but don't give up.
And some of you people out there, no matter what happens (environment, etc), I know and have heard feedback - some of you who used to be pretty strong in studies, are getting "sian"...and I'm telling you this: don't SLACK OFF!

Remember what I taught about how challenging it can be to work in the society, and also what courses are there available in Poly, ITEs, etc? It's going to be just 1 and half years time to your N levels. Go for it - you can do it.

Dear class of 2E 2007,

It has been long since the last post, and here I am again...right in front of my laptop, thinking of the time that has passed...and what to say as I prepare to type down my thoughts.

I surfed around the web in a bid to look for inspirational pictures, quotes, stories, images...that might serve to motivate you as you start on Term 2. I didn't find anything terrificially nice, so here am I, this crab 'cher, this naggy 'cher, this 2E 'cher...shall simply write a personal entry for you this time round. Here goes...

It has been 3 months since, and how time times. You are all in Sec 3 - the boys, getting taller especially. I wonder how you are doing in your studies, and I hope you are all coping well. I know some of you are struggling in certain subjects - keep trying, persevere, keep the 2E spirit of Excellence - don't give up. With determination, you can do it. I know each and everyone of you can do it.

These days, I must say I have a secret enjoyment of walking past the 4th floor where your classes are...it's always heart-warming to see all your familiar faces.

The bunch of you boys are still as lively as ever. Leon tried to trip me today, Aaron has grown taller (Yes!), Wei Jie (when I see you I really think you have matured so much - very proud of you), Alfred still chants the same words "hi miss chan, bye miss chan, hi miss chan, bye miss chan...", Farridon's fringe is still curly as ever (though I hope you are not that frequently late as ever), Yo Lee seems quieter (am I wrong? hehe but your heart of gold for the old folks is very sweet), Samson is pretty decent as usual...Jiahao you are doing yourself proud at the Speech Day emceeing, Shafiq as well...Zhao Yuan I see that you are doing well at Media club too...Alvin you must've grown even taller I don't see you nor your chinese books around, Yeow Hui you are really taller! Siyong/Dennis I hope you are coping well in the express stream...and Benjamin since you are in my lit class and I bump into you quite frequently so you probably know what I've to say... :) I saw some of you getting punished once in a while...so please...you have better things to do than to break rules and waste time on such matters right? Let's see who else...Bao Jie your hair is higher than ever (but keep studying, must stay on right track okay?) Desmond, Faiz, Herwan, Sufi, Freddy, Andy, Hong Jie, Timo, Chen Wei...I do see each of you around sometimes - keep trying and doing wherever you are - don't slack off :)

Let me see...the girls. Jojo is cheery as ever, Joey seeing you at drums is the best thing ever!Regina I hope everything is fine at home (try not to sleep in class okay), Wei Kiaw I'm so proud of you for the basketball commitments, Xin Rong I know you are working hard, don't worry at GB or at studies - I have faith in you, Hannisha is doing really well in dance (but I need to see you in lessons lady!), Illi you are still respectful and cheerful as ever, keep it up...Laura I caught you at the corridor a few times, so do take care. Wei Ting make sure you dance hard, but work hard too okay? Biyun & Victoria (the best friends)...motivate each other along the way, and have positive influence! Siew Mei & Zoe...study hard - didn't really bump into both of you, and Hayati...Syahidah...Daphne...Shaoping - take care, and continue to focus on the next lap of Sec 3 life.

Remember the times when I used to step into class, and say "Good News or Bad News first?"
I hope there'll be more good news - and also, remember - this is going to be a foundation year as you prepare for your N / O levels. Keep up the momenteum, dont slack off - it is not worth repeating a year, or wasting your life away isn't it?

I believe in each of you, there is a star in each of you that will achieve personal excellence.

Good day to my fellow peers in 2E!

Yesterday, marks the end of Term 3 for the year 2007. It was also the very same day that Ms Chan returned the Progress Slip.

The marks that were printed on the Progress Slip, was it good enough for you to move on to the next level (Secondary 3 Education)? Or for some of you, was it good enough for you to be promoted to the Express stream?

Face up to reality. The End-of-Year Examinations (EOY) are fast approaching, have you done the revision that you had to do? Or were you still slacking?

For some of you, I've seen the disappointment in your faces when you received your progress slip. And I'm pretty sure that Ms Chan has said some words to some of you before receiving your slips.

Allow me to put a word of wisdom for you all:

''Teachers can only go that far to give you the guidance you need. But at the end of the day, if you don't make use of the guidance, you are bound to suffer. And if that happens, NEVER blame it on the teacher. You have yourself to blame.''

It isn't too late to start doing your revisions now. Make use of the 1 week holiday to do the revision. Don't start burning the midnight oil. Yes, you still can have fun. But there's always a correct time to do the right things.

Don't start regretting after you received your report at the end of the year. Start doing your revisions now!

A diary entry: A day in the life of 2E-ian at zero7 (the most stage+camera-shy people)

Dear Diary,

today we celebrate national day...
so i pledge it on my hand.
I realised that leon writes it on his hand,
while some chose to pledge it on their face. Most of us wanted a piece of singapore on our hands,
so off with my bag I went,
with my trust-y shoes to play and run,
while having some cedar primary children in our care.

Along the way, we met our friends on duty at the park,
We sang Happy Birthday to Samson's smile.
Herwan saw us and gave his grin,
Our GB/BB classmates at the games.

So my dear diary, finally at the end....

my classmates won races for their run,
and I cheered for my classmates up on stage.
I smiled when they took their bow. while Ms Chan was busy taking pictures again.

I wondered if our class will win anything,

while I saw Freddy ran up front to whisper to Ms Chan.

Xin Mei was soo shy to go up stage, she was the one who did up the Flag.
We won the 2ND BEST NE AWARD (LOWER SEC CLASS) for this year,
and Ms Chan had to run up the stage to collect the prize because my class was too shy.

I want to congratulate my classmates who won the race

and thank my classmates for making my day.

KUDOS to the previous post.

As the saying goes, "you reap what you sow".

Even though I have not been seeing you much recently, but this has been an eventful week for your class - especially on the recent developments.

- One of your classmates has severe family problems, but this classmate of yours is very mature, and refuses to give up. This student knows that the way to a better life is to get a good certificate, and it starts with passing the Sec 2 examinations. I am impressed by your classmate's courage and resilience, and I wonder, what are you doing with yours?

- I've been speaking to some of your parents recently, and some of your parents care for you so much that it hurts them, as much as it hurts you. Be positive, focus on their love and concern for you. I understand that it can be tough sometimes, when you want to have your own life (yes...your BFs and GFs), your freedom, your never-ending smses, being out at Heartland mall...etc. But think of it, who looks after you? Who will be the one that you will turn to if you come to trouble? What are your aims for the next 6 months of your life? Do you want to settle for a $500-$900 salary per month? Or you want to work for a better salary in life, and have a more fruitful life?

- CCAs:
Let's continue to cheer for Xin Rong as she is going to be part of NDP this year. She has been training very hard on saturdays, and her commitment has been very positive.

24 Seasons Drummers have been training hard, and I am glad a lot of you have found this CCA interesting, rather than to be a "ghost" cca student. Keep it going.

Sports CCAs have been training as usual, so all the best - weather is cranky, so take care.

Starburst performers - yes it's good, since your FT is there. Let's clap for your friends at the end of the play alright? They've put in a lot of hard work.

Those of you involved in assembly/racial harmony day celebrations/emceeing for school events, and so many other aspects - pat yourselves at the back. You've been really active, and Yuying is proud to have you, just as I hope you are proud of Yuying.

However, those of you who are still having CCA/discipline problems, you know who you are. Do you want to be like this for the rest of your Yuying years? Why make life difficult for yourself? This is not the way to learn responsibility, or to learn to grow up. Think about it. You're just harming no one, but yourself.

I rather each of you spend more time in preparing for your COMMON TESTS, and catching up in your studies. You have less than 15 weeks left for END of YEAR exams.

2E-ians,

your exams are round the corner -a month's time. But if you actually think about it, it isn't that far after all. Have you all thought of moving on to the Express Stream? Or to make it simpler, do you want to make it through of becoming a Secondary 3 student?

The results that you all saw on your very own report slip. Was it good enough to obtain you a ''pass''? Do you think you can do better? And to some of you, do you even care about the results you've achieved?

Most of you would have realised that you might be more involved in your CCAs, Prefectorial Board or your external programmes. But if you're heavily involved, do you think it's time for you to lighten that load of stress in order to concentrate on your studies? Not that I'm implying to to stop all your stuff outside but I'm just talking about a little of time management.

Like what Ms Chan has said, you do it not because for her. You do it for yourself, your very own future. And to quote many teachers:

''Regardless whether you pass or fail, I'm still going to get my salary. I can teach, but it's up to you to listen. At the end of the day, I still gain but you're going to feel the pain.''

So 2E-ians, you make your own decision whether to work hard. When the time comes, you'll soon learn if you had made a good or bad choice.

I've done much thinking, and I have, and still, very affected by what has been happening to your class.

Even today, I've just received complaints about some of your behaviour during home-econs, d&t lessons, and being late for recess assembly.

I believe I have said all I wanted to say, and each of you should know what I have been saying all along.

Thank you to some of you for the card, and for your concern.

At the end of the day, do not behave for the sake of pleasing me, or anyone else.

Do it because it is your life - it is your pride to grow up to be a responsible teenager who can achieve personal excellence.

2E-ians, think about what had happened today.

Some of you were LATE for Flag Raising Ceremony (FRC)
The Digital Art Room where our Art lessons were held at, some of you abuse it
Not handing up your report books in time
Miss Chan had to pay the printing lady a sum of over $70 that we owed due to not co-operating to pay the class funds.

These are just some examples of the actions that you've done to anger Ms Chan. Reflect on it. Remember the times that we had our happy moments with Ms Chan. The CIP programmes that we did with Ms Chan. And the knowledge that she imparted to us through her lessons

Remember the Secondary 2 Camp Programme that was held during the month of May, days before the June Holidays? Ms Chan cheered for those who were afraid of doing the activities there. Remember when one of the 2E-ians suffered a gastric attack, Ms Chan was feeling worried so as that she did not concetrate on the campfire.

2E-ians, have you really even pondered on the things that Ms Chan has done for our class? If you've haven't, go reflect on yourself.

This was never intended to be as a lecture. It's only something that I think all 2E-ians should relect on.

This week is KINDNESS Week, and we are going to have some activities lined up for you in school.

How do you know if you are a kind person?
Do you like someone to be kind to you?
Have you been told that you are a kind person?
Who can you be kind to?

Are you unkind? In your words? Actions?

There is one issue that I want to talk about in this entry.

Some of you have been very supportive of our mascot during LOCD - so am I. We are all very proud of Herwan, who has bravely stood up to allow himself to be painted, and of course, the possibility of being laughed at. Freddy too, has volunteered himself during CNY as our class mascot.

That is a very brave thing to do.

However, it saddens me to know that some of you choose to tease and taunt your classmate.
Let me ask you some questions.

Will you volunteer to be the mascot?
Did you help in the preparations?
Did you cheer for your classmate, who does not mind sacrificing himself for our class?

It is very unkind when we start to give our friends some weird names. Would you like to be called names?

I know our class has gone through a lot since last year - the bullying, the unhappiness, the clinques.

But I know our class has the best of talents, the kindest of students, the most responsible ones, the caring ones.

Of course, there are some of you who can't-be-bothered, who prefers drag the class down, and gets punished for so many things - the most of which I am most disappointed with, is your punctuality.

Let's come together and be the Sec 2E that will be a happy and supportive environment to study in for the rest of this year.

SEC 2E:Great Job on LOCD 2007!

Notable moments:
1. As usual, my Sec 2E has a reputation for being very active, but superbly SHY on camera.

2. 3 CHEERS to HERWAN as our Mascot - for being so sporting each time! Our SILVERY!

3. Xin Mei's hard work on class "flag" - we can always count on her.

4. Everyone who worked on Herwan to perfect his LOOK, to fan him, to help him with washing up - you know who you are, well done! (& to Mr Lawrence for his art skills!)

5. Responsible ones who went all out to carry the HEAVY cans, packs, cartons, distribute booklets, surveys, etc. Clap Clap!

My greatest disappointment, is always, to be caught in situations when the class misbehaves, when you decide to criticise and look down on each other, when you decide to run away, when you lose hope in yourself, when you CHOOSE to give up, when you CHOOSE to be late, when you CHOOSE to waste your talents and potentials that each of you possess.

My greatest joy, is always, to see each of you rise up to the occasion, to see the class spirit, to see teamwork, to see responsibility, to see each of you doing the best that you can.

The last CIP, we were at Society at the Aged.
This time round, we were collecting food for the needy.

Remember, you are not doing it for me. You are not doing it just for fun.
We are doing it because we want to bless others, who are not as fortunate as we are.

Dear Class,

How has your holidays been? I know some of you were busy with school, ccas & other matters - saw some of you around, and I hope you've been making good use of the past month. For eg, the BB & GB camp, NPCC camp, the dancers, wushu, media club, the 24-seasons drums who will be performing for SYF event, and i'm sure much more.

It's 2 more days to school reopens, and are you prepared?

If you have yet to, it's time to wake up, reflect, and ask yourself what do you really want to achieve for the next 2 terms. It will be a very very very very short semester - and before you know it, it's going to be common test, and it's going to be end-of-year exams...and it's time for you to know if you've gotten into Sec 3 Express, Sec 3 NA, or.............

As for me, I've been hoping for time to blog more often, but I've been really busy in school, sprained my ankle, and been really occupied with the Cultural NIght preparations - which I'm excited and hope all of you will find it meaningful and be exposed to the performances. I can't wait to see all of you on monday - but of course, remember the usual things that I insist on.

1. Self - Discipline, and Classroom cleanliness.
2. Attire: Don't say I didn't warn you on attire checks.
3. Attitude towards teachers, classmates, and self.

- Remember to bring your report books too.

Back from Sarawak

Dear Class,

Finally...I'm back from Sarawak. It is a really beautiful country with an awesome history, interesting cultures and geographical features. It was my 1st overseas trip with students, so I was extra excited and felt the responsibility of making sure the students will be safe throughout the trip.

Imagine bringing all 43 of you overseas with me? *Ahhhhhhh!* I wonder how it will be. Wink.

Let me highlight what we did..

1. We stayed over at a place called the LONGHOUSE for the 1st night. It is a long stretch of rooms under a single roof for people to stay in. Totally different from S'pore.

2. Treking for 2 days - very challenging and tiring. Teamwork & Perseverence is a MUST.

3. Medeka Palace (Hotel) for next few nights - everyone is very happy with the beautiful suites and facilities :)

4. Bako National Park: The treking was easier & the beach was so beautiful. The cliff looked like a bird's beak. MUST SEE!

5. CIP at Cheshire Home: Met many disabled people of different ages, but their body sizes can be smaller than you and me. Helped to clean up their rooms, played/chatted with them, brought the books & stationary that we raised funds for from school.

6. Visited some cultural areas of the country, and we learnt malay as the days went on.

7. Shopping! :)

I shared this during the final day debrief with the students, and I'm sharing them with you too.

"All of us have the same 24 hours per day. This 24 hours also applies to Nature (mountains, trees, plants, flowers, etc), Animals (monkeys, jellyfishes), People (of different races, dialects, languages, living conditions, life stories, leisure, etc). What excites me most is when we step out of our own comfort zone, when we step out of our own 24 hours, to enter into how the world around us spend their 24 hours. It is when we do so, we start to be amazed at how big the world is, and how amazing life can be, and we will realise how blessed we are.

Especially when I was there at the Home, and I saw how pitiful the people are - one child was kept in a cage for years before the neighbours alerted the police to free the poor child. By then, the child was unable to grow any taller, and the body has been contorted."

We do not need to go overseas just to experience life. But we can do so right here in Singapore too. Do you look beyond your own 24 hours to the people around you, your parents, grandparents, friends, the disadvantaged?

The question is,

How will you choose to spend your 24 hours each day?

Results Day

That was the AFTERNOON when I am back in my classroom.

The noon that I have been dreading/hoping/working so hard/not working that hard, for.

The noon when my heart was pumping when Ms Chan walked into the class with the whole stack of report books.

The noon when she said, "good news or bad news first?"

The noon when I realised that I am responsible for what I have done throughout the semester, and how Ms Chan hates to use the report books as the threat for paying up the bills for what I should have done much earlier.

The noon when I realised that my conduct grade is a result of what I have been throughout the semester.

The noon when I realised that some of my classmates (or myself) have been working really hard and their results are really fantastic.

The noon when I was happy/glad/sad/disappointed/can't-be-bothered/crying/jealous/angry with my teachers, my friends, my parents...........and with, myself.

The noon when I reap what I sow.

Hi 2E-ians,
How time flies, the camp has been over for almost a week!
I hope most of you have rested well, and are more settled down to reflect about your experiences.
I'm leaving for Sarawak tomorrow for the field trip, and be back on the 5th. Was kept really busy and ill for the past few days - so I could only drop some tags along the way :) Shall enter in some entries tonight before I leave.

While waiting for the bus...the BLACK "MAGIC" begins - our story of NEVER GIVE UP!

The suspense starts to fill the air. While the sleeping bug starts to hit a few.This is what happens when you hide yourself at the corner of the bus and surround yourself with the most loyal friends who "saboh" you by asking the teacher to take primary evidence of your most "relaxed" moments :p

Reflections from Ms Chan

1. Favourite Moments:

(a) Greeting all of you when I reached the campsite in the noon on the 1st day

(b) Pride swelling in my heart when you encourage each other during the activities (e.g. flying fox, high elements)

(d) Seeing all of you behaving and having your meals at the big tent

(e) Having Farridon as our IT Manager

(f) The The great fun we had on the bus

2. The Not-so-favourite Moments:

(a) When Samson bruised his arm

(b) When Victoria had gastric

(d) Wishing those who were at "I believe" will be enjoying and learning on their own, and join us when we get back to school

(e) When I don't have time to speak to all of you

(f) When YOU PEOPLE are so CAMERA SHY! haha

(g) The times when we didn't support each other, but decided to "Shut Off", esp during the campfire

(h) When some of us get into the NATO behaviour.

Last Words

I know some of you have shared that you miss the camp very much, etc. That is really great to hear. What I am more interested for each and everyone of you is this: WHAT have YOU LEARNT from the CAMP that YOU CAN, and WILL APPLY to YOUR LIFE?

I am sure each and everyone of you have your special moments, the ups and downs, the times when you really enjoyed yourselves, the times when you really wished you were back home, the times when you learnt new things about people around you, the times when you learnt new things about yourself.

Now, I encourage you to reflect and think about ONE thing that you have learnt from the camp to apply to your life. We can attend as much camps as we want, but if we do not learn anything from them, there is no meaning it.

Examples of what you have learnt: Packing your own bags, Importance of your mom/dad/someone at home who takes care of you, Abseiling down that long long wall. Fear of heights and flying fox. Rockclimbing. Crossing that GIGANTIC POLE. Sharing a room with my friends and having to be patient and wait for them.

Now, what are you going to do about it?

Examples: Thanking your family members for the love they have for you. Deciding that you will never give up, no matter how fearful you may be of the obstacle. Be more patient and understanding towards your friends. Respect for people around you...etc.

2E-ians, before you press the CLOSE button of this blog window, I encourage EACH and EVERYONE of you, to reflect, and make a decision in your heart, about what you have learnt from the camp, and what you can do about it as you apply it to your individual lives.

No matter how high, how difficult, how impossible - the thing is that we will NOT give up WITHOUT a try.

It touched my heart to see the cooperation that was displayed by many of you...and the screaming, encouragments, jumpings, clapping that filled the air today. Although some of you did not try out the activities, I hope you learnt about resilience in the other areas of your lives. I'm happy to see the whole lot of you cheering each other on! Here's my big shout-out to Laura and Xin Rong: Laura, you really impressed me by your quiet confidence. Xin Rong, I'm so proud of you - that you did not give up no matter what happens.
